Course Objectives: 
The aim of this course is to develop students’ fundamental knowledge , awareness and skills in the provision and financing oral and dental health using the methodologies utilized in public oral and dental healthcare. Furthermore, the course aims to develop students’ skills in planning, performing and assesment of research directed towards the public. The practical portion of the course aims to increase students’ fundamental knowledge and awareness in enhancing oral and dental health literacy of elementary school students their parents by planning, application and assessment of public studies.
Course Content: 

Basic principles of public oral and dental health studies, ,indicators of oral health, objective and subjective evaluation of public oral health, epidemiological studies, health education, protection and development of oral health, oral health literacy, preventive and oral health development studies performed at the public level, evidence based dentistry, ethics, presentation and financing of oral health services, human power, health communication, benefiting from oral health services, inequalities in oral health. Practical portion: Studies directed towards increasing the oral health literacy of children and parents in the school environment by taking into consideration the cognitive and motor development of children; utilization and evaluation of these studies, preparation of education materials used in these studies, health education using the drama method, preparation of parent education brochure using scientific evidence., sharing of results as scientific reports.
