Course Objectives: 
This course is the first didactic and practical course in the field of Oral Surgery. This course gives the student exposure to all aspects of the wide and varied scope of oral surgery. The course also promotes the integration of the basic sciences and medicine into the daily practice of oral surgery and dentistry. Students begin to function as dental practitioners during their third year and perform uncomplicated exodontia in clinics. The predoctoral program will teach the student a standard pattern of intelligent history taking, examination, critical analysis of case findings, and full utilization of appropriate diagnostic aids all directed toward a sound diagnosis for an oral surgical problem.
