Course Objectives: 
The aim of this course is to instruct students about the anatomy and physiology of periodontal tissues, the etiology of periodontal diseases and the role of local and systemic factors in the etiology of such diseases. Furthermore, the students will be expected to have the capability to diagnose different forms of periodontal diseases and learn oral hygiene and scaling & root planing techniques (both with hand and ultrasonic instruments), and indications, contraindications, advantages and disadvantages related to these techniques. By the end of the course the student will be expected to combine all the aforementioned knowledge in order to obtain and maintain the patient's periodontal health.
