Course Objectives:
This is a two-semester multidisciplinary course intended to provide the student competency in dental embryology, orofacial growth and development and developmental anomalies related with orofacial soft and hard tissues.
Course Content:
In this course, prenatal growth of soft tissue, cleft lip and palate, prenatal growth of hard tissue, prenatal formation of cranium, main principles of development of bony tissues, postnatal growth of maxilla-mandibular complex, important points of face development, tooth embryology, tooth eruption and related theories, changes of alveolar bone and dental mucosa while tooth eruption, eruption of permanent teeth and physiological root resorption of primary teeth, abnormalities of root resorption of primary teeth, eruption times of primary and permanent teeth, early and delayed eruption of primary and permanent teeth, classification and etiology of developmental abnormalities of teeth will be discussed.
