Periodontology is the study of the dental specialty area which encompasses the nature, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the supporting and surrounding tissues of teeth/implants, and maintenance of health, function, and esthetics employing nonsurgical/surgical approaches providing a high level of oral hygiene, mechanical cleaning, resective, regenerative and plastic periodontal surgeries as well as placement of dental implants.
